The name is a little misleading because a boiler doesn’t boil water. A boiler turns water into steam. Boilers can be used to not only heat water; but to also heat your home and in some cases, generate power. Boilers heat water very quickly and are available in tanked and tank-less variations. However, some boilers come with a hot water storage cylinder. When it comes to boilers their tanks hold the cold water and the cylinders hold the hot water.

Gas and electric furnaces are forced-air systems. They combust fuel or generate heat to heat up air, which is then blown through ducts into the living spaces of your home. The furnace heats the air through a device known as heat exchanger. Then hot air is distributed in the house through ducts by blower fans. Electric furnaces have heating elements that create hot air, while in fuel powered furnaces the hot air is created by the gas jets.

R22 is being phased out worldwide because of its harmful effects on the ozone layer. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set January 1, 2020 as the date when R22 is banned from production and importation in the United States. The production and importation of R22 is illegal but the substance it's self is legal. R22 will be replaced by R-410A, a safer material which is the current, compliant standard refrigerant in air conditioning equipment.
